Paisley Velo 5 Ferry's 03/08/2019

5 FERRY'S

 

On Saturday 3rd August the club plans to do 5 ferry's , for all who have not done it is one to tick off as a cyclist ,still great day out if you have done it , there is different options I will do my best to post them 

 

Option 1

 

Train

 

This is option I would take if I was doing it train Paisley Gilmour St to Wemyss bay  to Rothesay ,cycle to Rhubodach  , Colintraive , cycle to Portavadie ,hills in this cycle but don't spend too long at top of hills or you will miss ferry at Portavadie ( every hour ) arrive Tarbet , cafe break , cycle to Claonaig to Lochranza , cycle round to Arran catch first ferry back to Ardrossan ,if all going well for you catch 1515 Brodick to Ardrossan  arrive 1610, 1636 train back to Paisley , the more likely ferry is 1640 Brodick to Ardrossan 1735 , 1807 train back to Paisley , all going well you will be able to have beer in Arran or on ferry , train back to Paisley , all in cycling

 

Approx 55 miles.

Ferry Wemyss Bay 0900 arr Rothesay 0935

Cycle 

Colintraive ferry dep 1000 arr Rhubodach 1005

Cycle

Portavadie dep 1145  Tarbet arr 1210

Ferry Claonaig 1350 arr Lochranza 1420

Cycle, next ferry if this is missed 1505

 

Brodick dep 1640 arr Ardrossan 1735

Train 1805 back to Paisley

 

There is one earlier train 0642 from Paisley Gilmour St would need to adjust ferry time if guys / gals wanted to catch that one

 

Option 2 

 

Take car to Ardrossan,  cycle to Wemyss Bay , car at end of cycle for going home , ferry start time as above from Wemyss Bay , leave times up to cyclists when they leave for this option

 

Approx 73 miles

 

Option 3 

 

Cycle to Wemyss bay  do 5 ferry's and cycle home from Ardrossan , I will leave to whoever fancies this option to arrange starting times from Abbey 

 

Approx 83 miles 

 

Cycle there and back , 5 ferry's 

 

Approx 111 miles

 

 We ride at the pace of the slowest rider on the day and we wait at the top of hills , we start together we finish together

 

Bring a helmet, spare tubes, tools, nutrition and Plenty fluids. Money for coffee/tea, and a mobile phone......and your bike!!
